Group opposed to Lough development urges residents to submit objections to council

A group opposed to a student development in the lough is encouraging residents to submit objections to the council.

The "Save the lough from Highrise" group says the development, 40% of which is on church land, will be an eyesore and will destroy the fabric of the lough as a public amenity.

The piece of land, which was sold by the Lough Parish Finance Council is adjacent to  another, larger piece of land already in the ownership of a developer.

The group say the 5 block 350 bed student accommodation will cause an increase in traffic, put pressure on infrastructure, and any increase in anti- social behaviour will impact negatively on the lives of residents, many of whom are elderly.
