Heineken Ireland's chief executive wants to make being drunk uncool.
Addressing a retailers' conference Maggie Timoney says the focus needs to be on encouraging moderate drinking and delaying when young people have their first drink.
However Alchol Action Ireland has hit back at her comments on the planned laws contained in the Public Health Bill in relation to alcohol which she says "won't change behaviour".
The group says it's been proven that the key areas that must be tackled to reduce alcohol harm in society are pricing, marketing and availability and this Bill addresses these three areas.
Conor Cullen of Alcohol Action Ireland told Cork's RedFM that three people die in Ireland every day from drink and harmful binge drinking and this new Bill gets to the root cause of this problem.
