Save Our Skibbereen campaign has today welcomed a ruling by the High Court to quash a decision by An Bord Pleanala to give permission for a plastics factory in the town.
Just before 12 midday, it was revealed that An Bord Pleanala consented to the court granting an order quashing the move which had permitted the construction of a thermoplastic facility at Poundlick on the Baltimore Road
The proposed development faced major opposition from locals since plans for the factory came to light
- with many people expressing fears about emissions from the factory and concerns about its impact on tourism and local fishing operations in Roaring Water Bay.
Speaking to RedFM News, Brendan McCarthy from Save our Skibbereen says it's a huge win for the town:
