Homelessness rises Leeside by almost 40%

This year has seen the highest figures of homelessness recorded to date with almost 7500 people nationwide without a home

Cork remains in the grip of a homeless crisis.

That's according to Housing Charity Threshold who say the number of homeless adults has reached 295 in the past 12 months an increase of 38.5%.

It comes as emergency accommodation providers such as Cork Simon and Edel House say they do not have enough beds for those who need one, and are over capacity every night.

Speaking to RedFM News Threshold's Niall Horgan says the situation is set to continue throughout the summer months.
