Hopes For A third Access Point To Little Island
Cork County Council have ruled out the possibility of introducing one.
The Little Island Business Association say they're lobbying Transport Infrastructure Ireland to develop the third access route which it's hoped will alleviate traffic congestion for the 17,900 people who work and visit the area every day.
The organisation says Little Island has the potential to bring an additional 10,000 new jobs and 5,000 new homes to the area however in order to do this ongoing traffic problems have to be solved.
RedFM News has learned that Cork County Council have enlisted consultants to devise a traffic management plan for the area, which currently has no cycle lanes and no provision for buses.
It's understood those plans have already been presented to Council and will be displayed to the business association on October 18th.
Speaking to RedFM News CEO of the Little Island Business Association Michael Mulcahy says while plans to address traffic issues are welcome Cork County Council also have to increase their investment in Little Island:
