Housing charities welcome Housing Minister's vacant homes strategy

Threshold says any initiative that looks to use existing stock is welcome
Minister Eoghan Murphy says one of the options is to encourage elderly people living in nursing homes to become landlords and rent out their property.
It's believed close to 25,000 homes are currently vacant and according to a report by Daft there were just 2,930 properties available to rent nationwide on August 1st.
Speaking to RedFM News, Niall Horgan of Threshold says it will take a number of years before new stock will be built.
