HSE Says Northside Needle Bins Will Not Be Removed
The HSE says specialised needle bins on the Northside of the City will not be removed.
The comments come after locals expressed fears that the heavy duty containers located in alleyways off Wellington Rd would encourage more drug use in the area.
However the HSE says the bins are more beneficial to the local community, as drug paraphernalia is being disposed of securely rather than lying on the street where it poses a major health risk.
Speaking to RedFM News HSE Drug and Alcohol Co-ordinator David Lane says the initiative is about reducing risks to the public:
