HSE To Probe 999 Call After Toddler's Death In Midleton

The HSE is set to launch an inquiry into the 999 call which was made last Monday when a toddler fell from a two storey window at his home in Midleton. 2 year old Vakaris Martinaitis, died two days later, from the injuries he sustained in the fall. The emergency call was made by former GAA star Kevin Hennessey who had to transfer Vakaris to CUH - after his fall at his home in the Castleredmond Estate last Monday. An inquiry in to how the emergency call was managed is now under way. It comes after it emerged that two private ambulances were in Cork at the time of the accident and could have been on the scene within 20 minutes.
