Huge response to elderly man left unaided after falling in city centre

An elderly man who fell in the city centre last week and was left unaided has said he was bowled over by the response to his story which was highlighted on the Neil Prendeville Show. 89 year old Con Coughlan lives alone on Tower Street and has no home help and regularly walks into town to go to mass and do some shopping... Last week he fell near Singers Corner on Washington Street as he was on his way to St Augustine's Church and landed out on the road into the cycle lane. Con badly injured his knee but no-one came to help him and he says he just picked himself up and stood against the wall for a while and tried to gather himself. The response on social media  to Con's fall was astronomical with hundreds of people annoyed that no-one came to his aid. Con came into RedFM this morning and outlined on the Neil Prendeville Show what happened after he fell. Press PLAY button above to listen to the audio
