Hundereds Of Secondary Students To Descend On Cork City To March Calling For Action On Climate Change

Hundreds of secondary school students from across Cork are expected to descend on the city later this morning to take part in a march calling for Government action on Climate Change.

The "Fridays for Future" march is part of a global day of action and follows the call last summer of Swedish secondary school student, Greta Thunberg.

Last August the 15-year-old began taking Fridays off classes to highlight climate change and her lone protest has now snowballed into an international school strike.

Demonstrators will gather outside Cork Opera House at 11am and march to City Hall for noon.
