Hundreds attend protest in Cork calling for an end to victim blaming
"Yes means yes and No means no"
That's the message from protesters who gathered on Patrick St today calling for an end to victim blaming.
Hundreds turned out for the demonstration organised by Feminist Socialist movement ROSA Cork.
It's after a recent court case in Cork where a 17-year-old girl's thong was used as part of evidence to question her accusation of rape against a 27-year-old man.
The defence asked the jury to consider the girls underwear during closing arguments.
The man was found not guilty.
Speaking to RedFM News at the protest Mary Crilly of Sexual Violence Centre Cork says she fears it will put women off reporting sexual assault:
The protest turned into a march which made its way down to the Courthouse on Anglesea St and underwear was laid on the steps of the courthouse.
