Hundreds Expected To Turn Out In City To Protest Against System Of Direct Provision

The protest is due to begin at 1pm
Residents from facilities across Cork will come together to call on the Government to give them access to work, education and housing rather than subjecting them to the cruelty of Direct Provision and the threat of deportation.
It follows comments by TD Noel Grealish who made reference to 'economic migrants' from Africa who he said come to Ireland to "sponge off the system".
Meanwhile Cork TD Michael Collins has also spoken out in recent days about the ability of the State to re-house people in Direct Provision.
Speaking to RedFM News former resident of a Millstreet Direct Provision Centre Noma Maye says people living in Direct Provision are being ignored, and when they do finally leave the system they face an uphill battle to live a normal life because they have been denied of so much for so long:
