Hundreds Of Cork Farmers Joined A 3,000 Strong Protest Outside The Dail Today

Farmers say their incomes have diminished and the Mercosur deal would be the final nail in the coffin

Farmers from Cork say they have been driven onto the streets of the capital as direct result of the Mercosur trade deal

Hundreds of farmers travelled to Dublin and joined a 3,000 strong protest outside the Dail as the house prepares to debate a motion on rejecting Mercosur this evening.

The deal would see greater access to the EU market for four South American countries, with farmers fearing it will undermine their exports.

West Cork farmers say they have seen their incomes diminish over the years and say they will not be able to compete with South American beef

Helen O'Sullivan is a beef farmer from Bantry and speaking to RedFM News she says they have been pushed to protest on the street in order to have their voices heard
