Implementation Of Supervised Injecting Centres In Cork Is Dependent On Dublin Pilot Scheme
The roll out of supervised injecting centres in Cork City is dependent on a pilot scheme in Dublin
That's according to the HSE who are exploring the idea as a way to combat visible drug littering and needle-stick injuries.
The HSE say it will also save lives by reducing the number of people overdosing, however no time frame has been set for the establishment of the centres in Cork.
Speaking to RedFM News, HSE manager for addiction services in the Cork and Kerry region David Lane says the number of drug users in Dublin means it takes priority over Cork
