Income cuts to Cork pensioners needs to be addressed

The Government needs to address cuts to income support for pensioners across Cork city and county.
That's according to Age Action Ireland who have welcomed the €5 increase to the pension that will come into effect on Friday, but says it does not go far enough.
The Government defended the €5 increase by saying it was ahead of inflation, despite remarks from Europe that pensioners have been among the most cushioned during the recession.
Age Action says the increase is a step in the right direction but that many other issues need to be addressed, and called for the telephone allowance to be restored in the October budget.
Speaking to RedFM News Age Action Spokesman Justin Moran says senior citizens will welcome the increase to the state pension:
