Increase in arrests for 'Driving Under the Influence' in 2017

Calls have been made fpr alcohol interlocks to be fitted to the cars of repeat drink drivers

The figure has been released this month as recent research found that March is the second most dangerous month of the year for alcohol related collisions. 

It comes after calls by Ireland South MEP Deirdre Clune for alcohol interlocks to be fitted to the cars of repeat drink drivers.

Speaking to RedFM News Brian Farrell of the Road Safety Authority say they're submitting a review of the Government's current Road Safety Strategy and alcohol interlocks have been suggested.
