Increase in the minimum wage next year will be eaten up by rises in rent
That's according to Social Justice Ireland who say the 30 cent increase is ‘pathetic’
The body's been reacting to Minister John Halligan's statement that the minimum wage is to increase from €9.25 to €9.55 an hour is pathetic.
The Taoiseach says any hike in the lowest rate of pay must be sustainable.
However Michelle Murphy, Research and Policy Analyst at Social Justice Ireland says politicians need to take the cost of living into account.
