INMO Calls For Funds To Tackle Overcrowding Crisis At CUH To Be Released Immediately
€26 million was due to be released in the last week of October
As of today the funds to provide additional beds and staff have not yet been distributed.
Around €12 million has been earmarked to tackle overcrowding in the Cork and Kerry region, with Cork University Hospital set to receive approximately €5.5 million to provide 31 extra beds and additional staff.
According to the latest figures, CUH was the second most overcrowded hospital in the country in October with 1,028 people forced to wait on trolleys.
Speaking to RedFM News, Liam Conway from the INMO in Cork says the lack of funding raises significant questions:
