INMO records highest number of patients waiting for beds in July

July 2016 has seen the highest ever number of patients waiting on trolleys in Irish Emergency Departments.

Thats according to figures released by the Irish Nurses and Midwives organisation who say almost 7,000 patients were waiting for admission on trollys last month.

This is the highest figure the INMO has recorded since trolley watch began 12 years ago.

Cork University Hospital has been  exceptionally busy in recent weeks, with patients presenting at the ED experiencing long delays.

Speaking to RedFM news INMO General Secretary Liam Doran says everyone in the country should be disappointed with the figure:
