Inquest In The City Highlights Dangers Of Cosmetic Surgery
The public is being warned about the dangers of cosmetic surgery. It comes after an inquest in the city has heard how a Cork woman who had liposuction in Florida, died from an aggressive flesh-eating infection just days after having the procedure. Mary Ryan, from Youghal, died at Cork University Hospital on the 29th of December in 2012, from an agressive soft-tissue infection just 10 days after undergoing cosmetic surgery in the States. Assistant state pathologist Dr Margaret Bolster said the cause of death was shock and sepsis , following a liposuction procedure. The inquest concluded yesterday and Dr Myra Cullinane recorded a verdict of medical misadventure relating to the death of the 57 year old.
