Investigation Launched Into Reports Of Pollution In Atlantic Pond
Cork City Council has launched an investigation into reports of pollution in the city’s Atlantic Pond.
Locals in the area say there has been a deterioration in its water quality and vegetation and it's now feared that wildlife will be affected.
The council’s environment department have been criticised for their lack of response to queries on the issue including one from Sinn Féin councillor Shane O’Shea who said he reported the issue in January.
However the council’s environment department say they have already spent nearly a month investigating the conerns and have been unable to trace the source of the problem.
Speaking to RedFM News Fianna Fáil Cllr. Tim Brosnan says the results of a full investigation into the incident should be available shortly:
