Ireland South MEP pledges her support for Cork/US air link

Deirdre Clune says the fears being raised about working conditions and safety are unfounded


Ireland South MEP Deirdre Clune has rowed in behind the bid by Norwegian Air International to get the Cork/Boston route off the ground....

The airlines plans are coming up against stiff opposition in the US with labour unions Stateside fearful that the airline will employ low-paid crew and undermine working conditions for cabin crew working for other transatlantic airlines..

American unions are to stage a protest outside the White House tomorrow in support of a new law which could prevent the airlink from taking off... 

The US Department of Transport consultation process ends on May 16th, with a final decision on the permit due after that.. 

Speaking to RedFM News Deirdre Clune says the fears being raised about working conditions and safety issues are unfounded as the airline will be subject to Irish employment law and will be supervised by the Irish Aviation Authority
