Ireland Votes To Repeal The 8th Amendment By A Two To One Majority

Just one constituency in the country - Donegal - voted no


Ireland has voted to repeal the 8th amendment by a two to one majority, in an historic vote.  

All but one of the 40 constituencies voted to change the constitution, with Donegal voting No. 

Cork East was one of the final three constituencies to declare with a 64% Yes vote being returned

Earlier the Taoiseach described the result as a culmination of a quiet revolution. 

The official announcement was made at Dublin Castle this evening by Referendum Returning Officer Barry Ryan;
