Irish Blood Transfusion Service launch campaign in a bid to attract new donors

It comes following figures showing a 30% of international drop in people becoming blood donors
1 in 4 of us will need a blood transfusion at some stage in our lives.
That's according to the Irish Blood Transfusion Service who have launched a new campaign in order to attract up to 8,000 new donors across Ireland.
The Missing Type campaign is a global initiative highlighting an almost 30% international drop in people becoming blood donors compared to 10 years ago.
One donation of blood can save up to three lives and 67% of donated blood is used to treat cancer patients and people with blood disorders.
Speaking to RedFM News IBTS Donor Recruitment Manager, Cork based Anne O'Donovan says people may have busy lifestyles but patients will always need blood.
If you would like to become a blood donor, clinics can be found at giveblood.ie
