Irish Nurses And Midwives Organisation Says September Was The Worst Month Of The Year So Far For Trolley Figures

10,641 patients went without a bed in Irish hospitals last month - that's double the number of people on trolleys a decade ago

The figures also show that September 2019 is the worst September for overcrowding on record.

Cork University Hospital was the second most overcrowded hospital in the country last month with 936 patients treated on trolleys in overflow wards and corridors

The INMO says the constant overcrowding is placing a massive strain on nurses on the frontline and has renewed their call for more hospital beds and more nurses and midwives to staff them through investment and a shift towards primary care
