Irish Politicians remember Jo Cox

A Cork TD says Irish politicians are determined to remain accessible to the public.

Dara Murphy made the comments as a moment’s silence was held in Dublin earlier today to remember murdered MP Jo Cox, who would have been 42 today.

Minister Murphy said that security issues are constantly being reviewed for those in the public eye, but Irish politicians will remain in close contact with their constituents.

The issue of abuse aimed at elected officials on social media was raised in the Dail recently, in particular that aimed directly at Irish female politicians.
