Irish Pubs To Open Today For The First Time in 91 Years
Pubs will open on Good Friday for the first time in 91 years today.
The ban on alcohol being sold was lifted earlier this year and publicans in the city say they don't believe the day will be any busier than any other Friday night
Manager of Soho Bar and Restaurant Sean McCarthy says he'll be treating today like every other trading day
However some opposition to the lifting of the ban remains in the county.
Six publicans in Newmarket have decided to keep Good Friday traditions alive and will be remaining shut for the day, which in previous years has been a day of rest and a time to carry out maintenance work.
Speaking to RedFM News Sean McCarthy of Soho Bar and Restaurant says he expects today to be as busy as any other Friday.
