Irish Skin Foundation says early detection is key to chronic skin condition

A Cork woman who suffers from a chronic skin condition known as HS says people need to speak out about the illness as early detection is key.

Caroline Hill was living with the symptoms of HS since the age of 17 but it took  eight years for her to receive a disgnosis.

The 35-year-old says people are often afraid to speak about the condition due to embarrassment and as a result it gets worse and often diagnosis is a challenge with people suffering with the symptoms for many years. 

The Irish Skin Foundation have launched a new campaign to raise awareness about the condition and will be hosting an event on the 19th April for HS sufferers.
