Irish Water defend delay in water supply improvements in Cork
It follows concerns expressed by the Environmental Protection Agency.
Irish Water have moved to defend the rate they are working on water supply improvements in Cork saying there is no 'magic bullet' when it comes to upgrading the schemes.
It comes as the Environmental Protection Agency expressed concerns over the delay in water supply upgrades in a number of areas including Skull, Drimoleague and the Cork City Supply on the Lee Road.
The EPA's published its Remedial Action List which aims to highlight and resolve issues with the public drinking water supply.
The say Skull has been earmarked as an area for concern due to the elevated levels of chemicals called THM's - which often form when the water is treated with chlorine.
Speaking to RedFM News, Head of Asset Management Gerry Grant says they are doing everything they can.
