Jazz Weekend Tunnel traffic chaos to be raised at City Council meeting
The closure of the Jack Lynch Tunnels north bound bore is expected to be raised with senior city management at a meeting of the City Council tonight The closure for "urgent" repairs caused traffic chaos in the city over the Jazz weekend with tens of thousands of motorists caught in 90-minute tailbacks on Saturday afternoon.. The bore closure, which had been planned for weeks, had been advertised but it led to traffic grinding to a halt on the tunnel approach roads from around lunchtime on Saturday. A spokesman for the project said the manholes could be at risk of collapse if the repairs were not carried out soon and the repairs were vital for safety reasons.
