Joint Committee for Public Petitions Reviews Petition Seeking More Time For Junior Cert English Exam
The petition was mounted by a Junior Cert student after she sat the Pre Exams
A petition mounted by a Junior Cert student in relation to the length of time allocated for the new English exam paper has been heard by the Joint Committee for Public Petitions
Tara O'Sullivan launched an online campaign to persuade authorities to extend the Junior Cert English exam by 30 minutes and it attracted over 12,000 signatures.
Tara says the Committee found that the situation with the pres was unfair and more regulation needs to be put in place but they haven't agreed to add more time. She says there will be a second hearing after the Junior Cert is completed so she's holding out hope that an extension will be added for Junior Cert English students next year
Meanwhile..
The State Examinations Commission says it's satisfied that students will have sufficient time to complete the exam next month despite students concerns
