Justice Minister Slammed For Breach Of Data Protection Rules

The Data Protection Commissioner has said that people have a right to be assured that their personal data is treated with respect. Billy Hawkes said Independent TD Mick Wallace has informed his office that he will be making a complaint against the Justice Minister for breaching data protection rules. It comes in the midst of an ongoing row over comments made by Alan Shatter that the Wexford Deputy escaped penalty points after being warned by Gardai for talking on his phone while driving. Although Mr.Hawkes said he could not comment on the case yet he has said that no one has the right to reveal personal information without consent.
