Knocknaheeny Residents Calling On The City Council To Implement Traffic Calming Measures
A protest on Kilmore Rd is continuing this evening
It's after a number of recent road traffic collisions in the area including one as recent as last Tuesday when a six-year-old boy was taken to hospital after being knocked down on Harbour View Rd.
16-year-old Kimberly O’Connor lost her life on the same road in February when the car she was travelling in collided with a wall.
Concerns are now mounting in the area that unless traffic calming measures are installed and speed is reduced further loss of life will be experienced on the roads in the area.
It's also led to fresh calls for the developement of the Northern Ring Road which it's hoped would large reduce traffic volumes. Speaking to RedFM News Cllr Tony Fitzgerald says the planned infrastructure needs to be realised as soon as possible:
