Le Eithne unable to leave port due to paperwork error

It's emerged that the crew of an Irish Naval refugee rescue ship have been unable to depart on a planned humanitarian mission due to a paperwork error.

The Irish Examiner reports that the LÉ Eithne has been berthed in Cork Harbour as the Department of Defence and its Italian counterpart did not have the necessary paperwork in order.

The ship was due to depart on May 1st and it's understood the crew are on standby while the department liaises with Italian counterparts in finalising written documents.
