Legendary Broadcaster Terry Wogan passes away

Veteran BBC broadcaster Sir Terry Wogan has died aged 77.

His family confirmed that he passed away following a short but brave battle with cancer.

He was surrounded by his family and they have asked for they're privacy to be respected at this time, and they acknowledged he will be missed by many.

BBC director general Tony Hall described the Limerick man as a national treasure.

Terry was last on air on BBC radio 2 in November and had graced the screens and airwaves for over 50 years.

He broadcast his last Wake up with Wogan on Radio 2 in November 2015 and bid an emotional farewell to his listeners:
