Restricting internet access on Winthrop street has helped to alleviate anti-social behaviour in the area.
That’s according to business owners on the busy city centre street, who say the change on how wifi can be accessed has significantly reduced the number of young people on the street.
Traders had raised concerns about large numbers of teenagers gathering outside their premises obstructing access to shops and intimidating customers.
However, they say the simple remedy of restricting access to wifi is an innovative measure in order to prevent the street becoming a no-go area for shoppers in the city.
Speaking to RedFM News owner of Neville’s Jewellers John Neville says this new initiative combined with an increased Garda presence has worked wonders:
