Locals hope to revive area with community shop

Hopes are high that a community shop will get off the ground in Courtmacsherry after the villages' last shop closed over the Summer...

Locals say Rita's Sweet shop sold everything from bread and milk to the newspaper and acted as a meeting place for people but now locals have to travel a number of miles to nearby Barryroe or Timoleague for provisions....

Over 600 people live in the village and they have rallied together to gauge the level of support for the establishment of a community shop in the village..  

The community shop would be provisioned, run and managed by locals and early indications are that there is strong support for the venture among residents...
