Locals Trying To Come To Terms With The Death Of A 16 Year Old Girl In An Horrific Crash In Knocknaheeny
Friends of the girl are consoling each other this morning on Harbour View Road as forensic collision investigators carry out a technical exam of the crash site.
Emergency services rushed to the scene after the car the girl was travelling in, a 19 year old Seat Toledo, struck a wall outside a house.
The driver of the car fled the scene and later presented at the Mercy University Hospital where he was treated for non life threatening injuries.
Two teenage boys were also injured in the crash, with one of them in a critical condition at Cork University Hospital.
The body of the girl who is from close to where the crash happened was taken to CUH where a post mortem will take place.
Speaking to RedFM News, local councillor Tony Fitzgerald says there is a sense of disbelief in the community:
Gardaí are asking anyone who witnessed the crash or has any information including dash cam footage of the area between 11pm last night and 12:30am this morning to contact them in Gurranabraher on 021 494 6200.
