Long delays being experienced at ED units at two Cork hospitals

Mercy University and Cork University Hospitals have has to cancel non-emergency surgeries
Management at Cork University and the Mercy University Hospitals are advising patients to think twice before presenting at the A&E unit due to long delays.
Non-urgent surgical procedures have been cancelled at the two hospitals due to the large numbers of patients presenting at both facilities.
694 patients attended the A&E unit at Cork Uuniversity Hospital in recent days which led to long delays for patients presenting with minor ailments.
Management at both hospitals say they are doing everything possible to minimise the delays but they are requesting that, where appropriate, the public explore all options before attending the emergency departments
