Lord Mayor: Raising Intersectional Rainbow flag at City Hall testament to progress of inclusion in Ireland

LGBTI+ Awareness Week takes places in the city this week with the aim of challenging homophobia, transphobia and biphobia.
Cork City Council raises the Rainbow flag over public buildings, parks and community spaces, however this is the first year that the Intersectional flag has been raised.
Speaking to RedFM News, Lord Mayor of the City Cllr Joe Kavanagh says the flag raising is very significant:
"The Garda station next door have raised the flag, I know there's lots of other institutions around like the naval base for example in Haulbowline also that have raised the flag. We are a changed country, and we are an all inclusive city. And from that perspective I think we're all very proud. Cork is leading the way in that and I'm very proud to be first citizen in leading this initiative."
