Lord Mayor to raise issue of US multinationals in Cork on Whitehouse visit

The Lord Mayor of Cork intends to raise the issue of US multinationals remaining in Cork when he visits the Whitehouse on Thursday.
It comes as President Donald Trump begins to impliment many of his pre-election promises, one of which was to attract many US companies back to the states with a new corporate tax regime.
Cllr Des Cahill will make history as the first Mayor of Cork to attend the ceremonial presentation of the bowl of shamrock to US President Donald Trump alongside Taoiseach Enda Kenny.
The surprise invitation was issued by the US embassy in Dublin, and the Lord Mayor will be bringing the invitation to the attention of councillors at tonights meeting in City Hall.
Following the 48 hour visit, the Lord Mayor will depart the US and return to Cork in time to take part in the St Patrick’s Day parade at 1pm on Friday.
Speaking to RedFM News Lord Mayor Cllr Des Cahill says thousands of jobs Leeside are reliant on American Multinationals, and he will be seeking clarification on the issue:
