MABS advises parents worried about the voluntary contribution to contact their school

Education Minister warns any school which forces parents to pay voluntary contributions will face investigation
The Money Advice and Budgeting Service has advised parents who are worried about the voluntary contribution to contact their school.
MABS says the issue is often raised with them by parents who are struggling financially throughout the school year and cannot afford the contribution.
A number of parents have contacted RedFM about the issue in recent months claiming they feel the payment is becoming a form of a fee.
Minister for Education Richard Bruton recently warned that any school which forces parents to pay voluntary contributions will face investigation.
Speaking to RedFM News Coordinator of Cork MABs Margaret O'Neill says if parents are feeling under pressure about the contribution they should contact the school, as the payment is not compulsory:
