Man Due In Court In Connection With Robbery And Assault In Bishopstown On Thursday

A man was assaulted by two men at 3.30am and forced to hand over two mobile phones to thieves.

The man was brought to Cork University Hospital where he was treated for non- life threatening injuries and later discharged. 

Gardaí search two properties in Cork City but no arrests were made. 

Two days later Gardaí tracked the stolen phones to a property on Brian Boru Street when the victim told them that he had installed a tracker app on his phone. 

Gardaí recovered the phone and also found €6,300 worth of cocaine. 

A man in his late teens was arrested at the scene at taken to Togher Garda Station. 

He has since been charged and is due in court today. 

Gardaí say enquiries into the identity of the second man are ongoing
