Man Jailed For Stealing Money From 97 Year Old Man In Newmarket
A 41 year old man has been jailed after he was convicted of stealing €700 from a 97 old man in Newmarket
John 'Buddy' O'Brien, with an address at Barrack Street Waterford denied the charge of stealing the money and impersonating a member of An Garda Siochana at the SuperValu Carpark in Newmarket in January 2017
Mallow District Court heard that O'Brien, who had 109 previous convictions, told Dr Jack Burke that he would have to inspect any notes he had to make sure they were not forged
Dr Burke produced €700 and handed it over to O'Brien, who took the money and made his escape.
Judge Brian Sheridan sentenced O'Brien to 9 months in prison
