Man released without charge after Macroom drugs bust

Close to 50 cannabis plants were discovered with a potential street value of close to €40,000.

A man has been released without charge after being arrested for questioning in relation to the discovery of a cannabis growhouse in Macroom.

The Cork man, who is in his early 30s, was arrested when gardaí from Macroom raided and searched the house at Rusheen outside the town on Monday morning.

A sophisticated cannabis growhouse operation was discovered and close to 50 cannabis plants with a potential street value of close to €40,000.

He was taken to Bandon Garda Station for questioning but he was released without charge.

A file is now being prepared on the matter for the DPP.
