Man rescued from River Lee

Four Units of the Cork Fire brigade were involved in a river rescue in the city this afternoon.

The alarm was raised just after midday by a passerby on Merchants Quay, who saw a man enter the river near St. Patricks Bridge.

Members of the Fire Brigade helped the man to safety, and he was treated by ambulance personnel at the scene.

He was taken to the Mercy University Hospital by ambulance for further treatment, but his condition is not thought to be serious.
