Man who stabbed son eight times jailed for 2 and a half years

Cork Circuit Criminal Court heard that the victim Gino Frahill, had made a plea for leniency for his 49 year old father Leon

Leon Frahill pleaded guilty to assault causing harm to his son Gino Frahill -- who is in his late twenties at a bus stop at Glasslyn Road in Bandon on the 31st of March 2020.

He also pleaded guilty to two charges of producing a knife on the same occasion. 

The court that Leon Frahill, having stabbed his son eight times then flagged down passing traffic to raise the alarm. 

Leon Frahill, who at that time had an address in Harbour View, Cobh, was detained at Bandon Garda Station where he made full admissions. Judge Sean O'Donnabhain  heard that Leon Frahill was very apologetic for his actions.

Gino Frahill required surgery and blood transfusions for six chest wounds and was in hospital for three days before making a full recovery. 

Taking the guilty pleas in to account Judge O'Donnabhain jailed Leon Frahill for 2 and a half years. He ordered that Frahill also be treated for ongoing medical conditions while in custody.
