Concerns have been expressed over job security following the proposed merger of Cork city and county councils.
Cork Council of Trade Unions made the comments on foot of the Environment Minister's agreement with the recommendation by an expert group to amalgamate the councils.
It's believed the merger could save in the region of 15 million euro depending on redundancies but Alan Kelly says that will be an issue for the implementation group.
Separate calls are now being made for the government to support and reject the recommendations, as the Cabinet will make the final decision.
