Minister speaks out as concerns expressed about Lower Lee Flood Relief Scheme

The Minister of State with responsibility for the Office of Public Works says its important not lose sight of the reasons behind the Lower Lee Flood relief scheme.

Sean Canney made the comments as the deadline for the public to make a submission regarding the City's flood defences, has been extended to the 7th of April.

There have been concerns raised by the Save Cork City Group, who say the €140 million euro project will damage the existing historic fabric of the city, and are calling on the public to submit their objections to the OPW.

The Minister says he welcomes input from the public on the project, but says the scheme is designed to protect people's homes and businesses from a constant flood threat.
