More Than Half A Million Euro Has Been Spent On The Old Cork Prison Since Its Closure In 2016
The Irish Prison Service has confirmed that there are no plans to either sell or develop the site in the near future
More than half a million euro has been spent on the Old Cork Prison since its closure in 2016.
However, despite the spending, the Irish Prison Service has confirmed that there are no plans to either sell or develop the site in the near future.
The prison was used as the set location for Maze, a film starring Tom Vaughan Lawlor about the 1983 prison escape.
However, a spokesperson for the IPS has said that since then the building has fallen into disrepair and that more funding would be required to bring it up to standard for future projects.
